Proverbs 8:22-30; 1 John 5:1-12; John 13:20-35

Proverbs, chapter 8, is a wonderful, contemplative passage on wisdom. During my seminary education, it was stated that ministry is a life of study. It is important for many students of the Holy Scriptures, and new pastors, to hear those words. Many find that studying and rereading biblical passages often leads to a deeper understanding and broader insights about God’s will for us.

Wisdom accumulates through our study on just about anything. If you want to know God and the depth of his love for you and what he seeks from you then 1st John 5, verses 1-12, is a great place to begin your contemplations. There is wonderful wisdom to be gleaned from this passage and it all centers around love.

It is the Christmas season. The Christmas story begins with the birth of Jesus Christ. It is all about God’s love for you. There is no better place to begin your study and growth in the knowledge of God than in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Wisdom will accumulate, and your horizon will broaden as you realize the countless blessings of the Christmas story and come to know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

Prayer: God of love and grace, guide me into deeper levels of understanding and wisdom about you through my moments in Bible study, prayer, and devotional reflection. Amen
