It’s time to register for the 2015 Canadian Rockies Theological Conference!

For years we have been hearing the phrase “Worship Wars” used to describe the divide between “traditional” and “contemporary” worship practices. But as is usually the case, such labels do not capture the complexity of the issue at hand. The debate about worship is encumbered with various inaccurate assumptions, false dichotomies, and downright uncharitable behaviors. Perhaps the time has come to bury the hatchet and talk peace.

Toward this end the Canadian Rockies Theological Conference is pleased to announce that the theme of our 2015 conference is “The Worship Wars Peace Talks.” We are not supposing that all of the issues can be sorted out in a few days in Canmore. But we wondered what might come of a conference where the eminent liturgical scholars Rev Dr. Frank Senn (author of Christian Liturgy: Catholic and Evangelical, and a number of other books on the subject), Rev Dr. Amy Schifrin (President of the North American Lutheran Seminary and Associate Professor of Liturgy and Homiletics), were to collaborate with the well known Juno Award winning Christian singer songwriter Steve Bell (Recipient of the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the 2013 Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s Golden Baton Award). Perhaps we might find that there is less to fight about after all.

Booking your hotel accommodations:

Participants in the CRTC who are staying in the hotel must book their room directly with the Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre in Canmore Alberta, as directed by the website.

To save costs you might choose to share a room with someone, as each room has two queen size beds. The total cost for the room for three nights is $330.00 including taxes. This would work out to $165 per person if the room was shared. The hotel has agreed to extend the conference rates for participants for 2 days prior to, and 2 days after the conference for those wishing to extend their stay.
